Amir receives Indonesian Chief Justice

KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah meets with the visiting Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Indonesia Dr Mohammad Hatta Ali and his accompanying delegation. — KUNA

KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah is due to depart today to the Republic of Turkey, heading the State of Kuwait delegation to the emergency summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

In other news, His Highness the Amir received at Seif Palace yesterday Chairman of Kuwait's Supreme Judicial Council, the Cassation Court, and President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Youssef Al-Mutawaa accompanied by the visiting Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Indonesia Dr Mohammad Hatta Ali and his accompanying delegation. His Highness the Amir later received His Highness Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

Mutawaa held a separate meeting with his Indonesian counterpart later yesterday, during which they discussed bilateral judicial cooperation. Mutawaa said that this meeting would push forward the framework of joint judicial cooperation with Indonesia, announcing the formation of a joint judicial committee of the two countries to develop bilateral cooperation programs, Ministry of Justice said in a statement. Both sides signed a letter of intent in this regard, and stressed the importance of independent judiciary and its role in protecting rights and freedoms and achieving justice.

Meanwhile, His Highness the Amir received the outgoing French Ambassador to the country Christian Nakhle on the occasion of his tenure ending. The French Ambassador also met with His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Hamad Al-Sabah. His Highness the Crown Prince meanwhile received the outgoing Brazilian Ambassador to the country Norton de Andrade Mello Rapesta, as well as Saqer Abu Shatal, the newly-assigned Ambassador to Jordan. Furthermore, His Highness Sheikh Nawaf received His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad, as well as Chief of National Security Apparatus Sheikh Thamer Ali Al-Sabah.

Earlier yesterday, His Highness the Amir received cable from His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad, congratulating him on the recent decision by International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to lift the ban on Kuwaiti football activities. His Highness Sheikh Nasser commended His Highness the Amir's keenness on backing up the sports movement in Kuwait, saying that the executive and legislative authorities play an integral part in lifting the ban. His Highness the Amir replied with a cable thanking His Highness Sheikh Nasser for his sincere sentiments, hoping that the efforts to develop sports in Kuwait will continue.

Separately, His Highness the Amir received a cable from President of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Ali Mohammad Thunayyan Al-Ghanem, who congratulated His Highness on the success of the 38th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit. In response to the cable, His Highness the Amir thanked Ghanem for the sincere gesture, hoping that he and fellow Gulf leaders would continue to seek the development and welfare of the region's people. - KUNA
