Presidents of Cuba and Namibia strengthen relations at the UNHAVANA, Cuba, Sep 27 (ACN) The presidents of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, and Namibia, Hage Geingob, met on Wednesday in New York as part of their broad bilateral agenda at the United Nations, reported the Prensa Latina agency.

This Wednesday, in his speech at the high-level debate of the General Assembly, the African leader renewed his call to put an end to the economic and financial siege imposed by the United States on Cuba, which he considered as an "antiquated, inefficient and counterproductive" mechanism.
Likewise, Geingob recalled that in "the darkest days of our struggle for independence, the Government and people of Cuba came to help us.
The Cubans shed their blood for our liberation, which resulted in the historic Battle of Cuito Cuanavale, which led to negotiations, elections and, finally, freedom, he recalled.
Also in a speech given by Díaz-Canel on Monday at the General Assembly's Nelson Mandela Peace Summit, the Cuban president recalled the blood ties that bind the Caribbean nation to Africa.
The cultural heritage of the African continent in the idiosyncrasy of Cubans is undeniable. The culture and the best values of their people nourished ours, said Diaz-Canel.
The Cuban president is developing a broad agenda of bilateral meetings at the UN, where he is for the high-level debate of the 73rd session of the General Assembly.
Since Monday, Diaz-Canel has held meetings with the presidents of Bolivia, Ecuador, Angola, Argentina, South Africa, Peru, Croatia, Andorra and El Salvador, among others.
