CEDAR FALLS — Novice and experienced writers are welcome to hone their skills and network with award-winning authors and speakers at the 22nd annual Cedar Falls Christian Writers Conference, June 8-10, at Riverview Conference Center. The theme of this year’s conference is “Lighting the Path to Publication.”

Mary Portzen and her husband Nick are co-coordinators of the event. Mary graduated from the University of Northern Iowa. She is a Therapeutic Art Coach, certified grief counselor, a member of the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association and a widely published author under the name Mary Potter Kenyon. Her seven books include the awarding winning Called to Be Creative: A Guide to Reigniting Your Creativity and a children’s book on grief to be released in 2025. Nick is a former businessman and an experienced cook who will be catering the event.

This year’s keynote speaker is Susie Finkbeiner, the CBA bestselling author of The All-American and All Manner of Things which were both selected as Michigan Notable Books. Her other novels include Stories That Bind Us, The Nature of Small Birds, and A Cup of Dust. She and her husband have three children and live in West Michigan. Learn more at www.susiefinkbeiner.com.

Other featured speakers include Waterloo bestselling author Jocelyn Green, photo-journalist David LaBelle, podcaster Dr. Ryan Howard, editor and author Robyn Mulder, and Independence fiction author Sheri Shonk. New this year is the introduction of an artist-in-residence with Amylee Weeks, an Iowa artist whose work incorporates God’s Word. Amylee will be leading an ekphrastic writing workshop with attendees.
