Smarterhomes Technologies, a Bengaluru-based technology company providing solutions for housing societies to adopt individual water metering, has launched operations in South Africa, Namibia and Botswana.

With presence in seven Indian cities and in international markets like Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and Middle East, the current expansion to Southern African region is an endeavour to strengthen the company’s international presence. In the next six months, Smarterhomes will launch operations in Knysna, Johanessburg, Cape Town and Rehoboth.

“All over the world, there are more than 50 million apartment units having an apparent need for a water metering solution. With the ever increasing urban population, there has been a huge rise in demand for apartments and residential complexes in cities across the world, thereby posing a massive pressure on the amount of water supply needed,” said Vivek Shukla, CEO and Co-Founder, Smarterhomes Technologies.

He further said “For the last several years we have focussed on the Indian market and expanded our operations across the country to serve seven key cities in India. We are now launching our operations in Africa. Our product has made a significant impact on residential communities in India by reducing the overall water consumption by 35 per cent.”

Started by Kasturi Rangan and Vivek Shukla in 2014, Smarterhomes empowers individual users to monitor, control and optimize their water consumption in real time. Funded by Macquarie Bank Ltd, London, Smarterhomes has installed 15,000 meters across Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad.
