Jade Haley Uhl, Houston, Texas Receives the ISHM 2017 Excellence in EHS Management Award.

HOUSTON, TX, USA, October 5, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- At its annual awards dinner, held in Indianapolis, IN, ISHM was pleased to present Jade Haley Uhl as the recipient of the Excellence in EHS Management Award.

About Haley Uhl:

Haley Uhl is the Clinical Quality Manager in Quality and Patient Safety for Memorial Hermann in Houston, Texas. Haley works closely with Memorial Hermann leadership focusing on patient safety, infection control, Joint Commission compliance, employee safety, and risk management. Haley’s scope of practice is the largest in the System with 102 laboratories, 38 Outpatient Imaging locations and 42 Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation locations. She worked as an x-ray technologist, computed tomography technologist, and spent the majority of her career as an ultrasound technologist that specialized in obstetrics, vascular, breast, and abdomen exams before transitioning into management in 2012. Haley has been recognized among her 30,000 peers with the Memorial Hermann Safety Champion Award for excellence in proactive safety two years in a row and her Ambulatory Services have been recognized with the System’s Sherlock Award for outstanding incident investigations, the Team Spirit Award for best practice sharing and the Crystal Ball Award for a proactive, preventative safety culture. Haley completed the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) Healthcare Workplace Safety Certificate Program, a seven-course program covering major regulatory areas in the healthcare industry. Haley also completed her ISHM Certified Safety Management Practitioner certification in 2016. When she isn’t working, Haley enjoys spending her time with family. She and her husband, Steven, have two children, Kenzee & Roman, and are expecting their third child, Jack, in January. Haley and her family enjoy being outdoors and have a love for traveling, hiking, and scuba diving. Haley began her career in healthcare in 2005 after receiving her Associate’s Degree at Angelina College in Lufkin, Texas in Radiologic Technology and is currently pursuing her Graduate Degree in Healthcare Administration at Southern New Hampshire University.

Cory Worden, Memorial Hermann Manager of Safety at Memorial Hermann says "In an industry with inflated injury and exposure rates and an enormous array of workplace hazards, Haley Uhl took on workplace safety management in the largest scope of practice within the Memorial Hermann Health System with the Ambulatory Service Line. Beginning with her own professional development and education, Haley earned the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Services' Healthcare Workplace Safety Certificate and then parlayed this knowledge into her first-attempt success in earning her Certified Safety Management Practitioner certification from the Institute for Safety and Health Management. Using this same self-motivation, Haley simultaneously implemented a robust workplace safety program beginning with the engagement, empowerment and delegated ownership to her team of volunteer safety champions covering her multitude of facilities and operations around the greater southeast Texas region. With her team in place and strengthened with lateral communication and proactive communication and measures, Haley's teams developed hazard analyses, implemented hazard controls (including regulatory compliance needs), communicated safety expectations, validated safe behaviors and conditions and investigated injuries and exposures to prevent re-occurrences. Ultimately, Haley's transformational leadership not only developed a comprehensive safety program but it did so by placing its ownership with her teams for a self-sustaining culture change necessary for valid and reliable injury reductions. Haley is well-deserving of the ISHM Excellence in EHS Management Award for 2017 and Memorial Hermann is proud to call her one of our own!"
