SADC PF chairperson encourages expeditious regional integration
The Angolan diplomat made the above statement, while addressing the SADC-PF executive meeting taking place from June 25 until July 2.
The SADC industrialization is the top topic to be discussed in the Forum, which, the chairperson deemed “determining for the development of the region”, however, the diplomat also wants that the aspects hindering or slowing down the integration of the region to be considered.
In this perspective, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, said the 43rd plenary Assembly, will once again, think over on the strategy of the organization to fulfill the desire of seeing the organization progressing from a simple parliamentary exchange platform into a regional parliament.
The Forum, made up by 14 parliaments, is also discussing issues relating the bills for the amendments of the constitution, SADC PF regulation and the functional and organizational structure of the organization secretariat.
The forum is running under the motto “Deepening the Economic Integration of SADC through Industrialization-Role of Parliaments”.
The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Parliamentary Forum is an autonomous institution, established in 1997 and consists of 14 parliaments from the region, namely Angola, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Malawi, Republic Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Botswana, Lesotho, Mauritius, Mozambique, eSwatini (former Swaziland), Zambia, Seychelles.
